Film Description
Altyn-Kazyk: The Golden Stake tells the story of a community of more than sixteen thousand people living beside the city’s largest landfill. Many residents, particularly women, work tirelessly on the landfill to support their families, despite the dangerous pollution and health risks that come with it.
The film highlights the harsh realities of environmental injustice while revealing the dignity, resilience, and determination of the Altyn-Kazyk community as they search for a cleaner and more hopeful future.
Director:
Jina Song is a documentary filmmaker and environmental activist from Seoul. Her work focuses on climate justice and human-centered storytelling. Through documentary filmmaking, she aims to shed light on communities facing environmental challenges and to amplify stories that connect people across cultures and experiences.
