Film Description

Kuineraqq is a short student documentary that explores the cultural heritage of a young filmmaker’s maternal grandmother and her connection to a Yu'pik village in Alaska. Through a personal and reflective lens, the film offers a glimpse into Native Alaskan traditions, identity, and family history.

Created as a middle school project, the film highlights the importance of preserving cultural roots and sharing stories across generations.

Director

Magnus Shipe is a student filmmaker from Wisconsin. In Kuineraqq, he explores his Native Alaskan heritage through the story of his grandmother and the Yu'pik community, creating a personal reflection on identity, family, and cultural connection.
