Film Description
The Experiment is a dark dramedy that follows a local resident confronting the impact of a toxic industrial plant established by a powerful corporation in a remote area. Determined to expose the truth, he invites members of the media to witness firsthand how the plant affects human health.
What unfolds is a shocking and unconventional demonstration that challenges even the most cynical observers, offering a bold critique of environmental negligence and corporate responsibility.
Director:
Maxim Akbarov is a Kazakhstani producer, director, and actor, educated at the New York Film Academy. His work has received international recognition, including the Méliès International Film Festival Federation (MIFF) Asian Film Award, the German Independence Award – Spirit of Cinema, and honors from the Asia-Pacific Screen Awards.
He has also been recognized as Best Director of a Low-Budget Film at the Calella Film Festival and Best New Director at the Eutopia Arthouse Film Festival for his feature film Steppe, which has earned multiple international awards. His storytelling often explores bold, socially relevant themes through compelling and unconventional narratives.
