Film Description
The Tree of Life is a poetic experimental short film that explores the relationship between memory, existence, and time. Narrated by a spectral voice drifting through the misty landscapes of a swamp, the film blends voice-over, rhythmic music, and cinematic imagery of nature to visualize inner emotions and transformation. Through its reflective storytelling, the film blurs the boundaries between past, present, and future while contemplating human transience and our connection to the natural world.
Director:
Jana Bedić is a young filmmaker from Kutina, Croatia. Born in Zagreb in 2013, she began exploring filmmaking through her school’s film group under the mentorship of technical education teacher Goran Šporčić. The group produces several films each year across experimental, documentary, and narrative genres, many of which have received recognition at international festivals. The Tree of Life was filmed in Lonjsko Polje Nature Park, where the crew captured the beauty of sunrise, morning fog, and the healing presence of nature while developing their filmmaking and storytelling skills.
