Film Description
Emergent City follows a decade in Sunset Park, a working-class neighborhood in Brooklyn facing rapid change. As rising rents, sea levels, and large-scale development reshape the waterfront, residents organize, debate, and struggle to protect their community. The film offers an intimate look at how people navigate gentrification, economic pressure, and climate challenges while fighting to shape the future of their neighborhood.
Director:
Kelly Anderson is a Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker known for films including My Brooklyn, UNSTUCK: an OCD Kids Movie, and Rabble Rousers. Her work has screened at major festivals and aired on PBS, HBO, and POV.
Jay Arthur Sterrenberg is a New York–based director and editor whose work has appeared on PBS, HBO, Netflix, and CNN. His editing credits include Dark Money, Trophy, and the Peabody Award-winning series Immigration Nation.
