Film Description

PULP is a meditative short documentary that captures the summer solstice saguaro fruit harvest in the Sonoran Desert. Led by Tanisha Tucker Lohse and Maria Francisco, the film honors a tradition sustained by generations of women who continue to carry forward this important cultural practice.

Through quiet observation and intimate storytelling, the film highlights the deep relationship between land, culture, and community in the desert Southwest.

Director:

Tiffany Dew is an award-winning filmmaker and founder of Sonoran Sol Films based in Arizona. Her work focuses on intimate storytelling that highlights the connection between people, culture, and place. Dew’s previous film, Red Scooter Diaries, received multiple awards including Best Documentary Short and Best Inspirational Short. Born and raised in Arizona, she draws inspiration from the region’s landscapes, history, and communities.
