Film Description

Singing Back the Buffalo explores the powerful movement to return buffalo to the Great Plains and restore balance to the land. Through the perspective of Cree filmmaker Tasha Hubbard and Blackfoot Elder Leroy Little Bear, the film traces the deep cultural, spiritual, and ecological connections between Indigenous communities and the buffalo.

As Indigenous activists, leaders, and allies work to bring buffalo herds back to their ancestral territories, the film reveals how their return represents more than conservation—it represents healing, cultural renewal, and a vision for a more sustainable future. Richly visualized and deeply inspiring, the film offers a hopeful reimagining of North America through the lens of buffalo kinship and Indigenous stewardship.
