Film Description

Physics, geology, and democracy collide across the American interior as communities confront the search for a permanent nuclear waste repository. Through a series of powerful vignettes from six candidate sites, To Use a Mountain explores the environmental, political, and human dimensions of a decision that could impact generations.

Director:

Casey Carter is a filmmaker and interdisciplinary designer whose work blends documentary storytelling with photography, cartography, and data visualization. His films explore themes of geography, environmentalism, and the relationship between communities and power. His work has screened at festivals including SF Shorts, Salem, and Ashland Independent and has been supported by organizations such as the Sundance Documentary Film Program and The Redford Center.
